The impact fractured two bones in the client’s hand — an injury that took surgery, hardware, and months of physical therapy to treat, and ran up $45,167 in medical bills. Even after all of that, the hand never fully came back.
The at-fault driver’s carrier tendered its full policy limits, but those limits came nowhere close to the value of a permanent hand injury. Atkinson Law pursued the client’s own underinsured motorist coverage for the balance, building the claim around an independent medical examination that documented permanent deformity and lasting sensory loss. The claim resolved for a total recovery of $150,000.
